Common Smeg Oven Problems

Smeg is a popular brand and is known to manufacture a range of aesthetically pleasing built-in ovens with unique features. Their ovens have evolved through serious research, so people buy them for their function and safety features.

This oven brand is unique because it is manufactured using various materials like stainless steel, glass, and enamel. Smeg ovens vary in terms of functions, size and cooking methods. Their electric models include convections, pizza, fan and pyrolytic ovens. Steam, gas, microwave and combination ovens are also available in their line-up.

However, like other brands, they can succumb to wear and tear, so there will come a time when the oven is not operating properly. There are several known Smeg oven problems, and we will discuss them all in this article.

Common Smeg oven issues

Not turning on and unresponsive – this problem is typically an electrical fault and may be caused by a faulty power cable connected to the outlet, a defective power socket, or a broken fuse.

Otherwise, if you tried to press the function knob, but the oven will not turn on, then the wire connections, thermostat sensor, thermal fuse, or control board may be malfunctioning.

Not heating up – this issue could be due to a faulty heating element. To properly diagnose this problem, you’ll need to use a multimeter. In addition, the grill element and or third element on the base should be checked.

Clock not working – when the oven clock is not working, you may be able to fix it by remove the power cable from the outlet and wait for 20 minutes before plugging the cable again. As you plug the cable of your oven back, it should reset the timer. Bear in mind that if the clock is not set properly this may result in your oven not working at all.

The issue may also be caused by a faulty terminal block that contains several circuits and is connected by links to the main power.

Fan not working – If the fan is having issues, it will probably make a lot of noise. In fact, this problem is commonly caused by worn bearing on the motor. Your oven has two fans – the circulation fan located at the back panel and the cooling fan at the top of the oven. Any of these fans may fail due to wear and tear.
